A homeless man risked his life to save those who risked their lives. They are not the only ones. On December 18, a fire engulfed the kitchen at the W. Underdogs Shelter in Atlanta, Georgia. So did 53-year-old Keith Walker right away. Just went inside
I was terrified like hell, I wasn’t going to lie, Walker told CNN. I was really scared to go there with all the smoke. But God put me there to save these animals. If you like a dog, you can love anyone in the world. My boi is my best friend, and I wouldn’t be here without him, so I know I had to save all those bois.

While the shelter was not completely destroyed, the fire made it uninhabitable, according to Gracie Hamlin, founder of W UnderDogs.
Hamlin had previously known Walker, who had been homeless since the age of 13, as she sheltered her dog, Bravo, every night.
Walker was going to pick up Bravo and take him for a walk when he saw the fire. He managed to save all the animals – six dogs and 10 cats.
Fortunately, W. Underdogs was only a week away from moving to his new facility, where the animals now live safely.
